The Story of the Kinsman

Kinsman Care Management is based on the principle that caring for others is an essential part of the human experience, whether the person needing help is an immediate family member or a more distant relative.  The story of the Kinsman traces its roots to over 3000 years ago...

There was a woman named Naomi who was married and had two grown sons.  Unexpectedly her husband and both sons died, leaving her a widow and without a male in the family to provide for her and her now widowed daughter-in-laws.  They lived in the Middle East, and in that ancient culture, being childless and widowed virtually guaranteed a life of poverty.

One of her daughter-in-laws chose to return to her own family in the hope of a brighter future.  But the other, Ruth, decided to forego her own dreams and stay at Naomi’s side.  Ruth was determined to care for her mother-in-law despite the odds that were stacked against them.  She set out to beg from others and glean the leftover grain from the fields after harvest for food.

Observing Ruth’s commitment to Naomi and her perseverance in overcoming their circumstances, Boaz, a distant family member, stepped forward and became their “Kinsman Redeemer”.  He took the women into his home and provided for them for the rest of their lives, rescuing them from looming poverty and hardship and preserving their legacy and their family line.

Your circumstances may not match the story of Ruth or Boaz.  But Kinsman Care Management seeks to support you in whatever way we can to deliver the best help to your loved one―the one for whom you, in some ways, are the Kinsman Redeemer.
